To improve the economic stability of the agricultural sector in Maharashtra, a new scheme named Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana has been launched. This scheme, introduced by the Maharashtra government and launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to provide financial support to over 1.15 crore farmer families in the state.
The Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana was officially announced at the Maharashtra Budget presentation for the fiscal year 2023–24 on March 9, 2023. Prime Minister Narendra Modi later introduced the plan during his visit to Maharashtra on October 26, 2023. A huge amount of Rs 6,900 crore has been allocated for this scheme in the Maharashtra Budget 2023–24.
Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana Objectives and Beneficiaries
The main objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance of Rs 12,000 per year to each eligible farmer family in Maharashtra. This money is given in addition to the existing support provided under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, giving each farmer a total of ₹12,000 each year.
Over 1.15 crore farmer families in Maharashtra are expected to benefit from this scheme. It aims at reducing the financial burdens faced by farmers, allowing them to focus more on improving agricultural output.
The Maharashtra government has approved the disbursement of ₹1,720 crore as the first installment of funds under this scheme. Around 90 lakh farmers will benefit from this programme, receiving an annual payment of ₹6,000.
NSM-NY Eligibility & Registration
To be eligible for the Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana, a farmer must be a citizen of Maharashtra and must own cultivable agricultural land in their name. Also, registration under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is compulsory because it uses the existing system of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana to reach farmers. Farmers who are already registered under the scheme don’t have to register again, making it easy for them to get the benefits.
Registration for this scheme can be done online through the official website of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (pmkisan.gov.in). The registration process requires submitting certain documents like residence proof, Aadhaar card, voter identity card, mobile number, PM-KISAN registration number, agricultural land-related documents, and bank account details.

Namo Shetkari Yojana 1st Installment Date
The 1st Installment of Namo Shetkari Yojana is planned to be distributed in the month of October 2023. The amount will be credited to the beneficiary account by the last week of this month. The farmers who are eligible for this scheme can check their bank account balance for confirmation of the received amount.
