The Board conducts the OSSTET Examination every year to determine the eligibility of the candidates for the post of teacher to be filled in the future. For OSSTET 2023, the official notification was released on 10 December and the application process started on the next day. A huge number of applications were received up to 22 December 2023.

The examination is scheduled to be conducted on 19 January 2024. The minimum passing mark for general categories is 45% and for the reserved categories, this criteria will be 35% marks. The candidates who will qualify for the examination will get a certificate of eligibility. The OSSTET Pass Certificate shall remain valid till the candidate reaches the upper age limit prescribed for the recruitment of teachers as per the rules.

Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test is scheduled to be conducted on 19 January 2024. OSSTET Paper Pattern & Exam Scheme
- An offline OMR-Based Test will be organized by the Board.
- There will be a total of 150 multiple-choice questions in the exam.
- Each question will carry one mark.
- There will be no negative marking for wrong answers given.
- The total duration of the exam will be 2 hours and 30 minutes.
