Haryana Public Service Commission is all set to conduct the Preliminary Examination for Haryana Civil Services. The examination for these posts will conducted in February 2024. As per the official notification published by the Public Service Commission of Haryana, the HCS preliminary examination is scheduled for 11 February 2024.

This year, the Haryana Civil Services (HCS) Notification was released in the last week of November 2023. Through this notification, the Commission has invited the online application for 121 vacancies. The process of registration and application submission for these posts was started on 01 December and was completed by 21 December 2023.
HCS Selection Process
The selection of candidates for Haryana Civil Services will be done on the basis of various selection phases. The candidates have to qualify for each phase to get shortlisted for the available vacancies.
- Preliminary Examination: This initial stage serves as a preliminary exam. It features objective-type questions aimed at evaluating the general awareness and aptitude of the aspirants.
- Main Examination: Candidates who successfully cleared the Preliminary Examination will shortlisted for this stage. The Main Examination is extensive and descriptive, focusing on the in-depth knowledge and comprehension of various subjects.

The preliminary examination consists of two papers, each carrying a total of 100 marks. Both papers will feature objective-type questions and will be available in both Hindi and English languages. Each paper is allotted a duration of 2 hours. For every incorrect answer, there is a penalty of 0.25 marks. Additionally, to qualify for Paper II, candidates are required to secure at least 33% marks.

There will be four papers in the main exam, including English, Hindi, General Studies, and an Optional Subject. A time duration of 3 hours will be given to solve this exam. The examination will be conducted for 600 marks. The questions are of conventional/essay type. The aspirants have to score a minimum of 45% marks to qualify for the next stage and a minimum of 33% marks in Hindi & English.

This stage is worth 75 marks and evaluates qualities like mental alertness, clear and logical exposition, judgment, leadership, and integrity. The final selection is based on the total marks obtained in the Main Written Examination and Interview, out of 675 marks.
